On October 25, 2014, Eng. Yutaka Inoue, a New Project Expert on Strengthening Water Users' Organizations arrived in Cairo to work for the Project of Strengthening Water Management Transfer (SWMT Project) as a successor to Eng. Yutaka Ueno.
Eng. Inoue has a considerable work experience in the field of international cooperation, including his work for a technical cooperation project in Tanzania as a long-term expert on irrigation as well as his duties at the JICA Headquarters. Soon after Eng. Inoue's arrival in Cairo, he visited the three pilot sites from October 30, 2014, with Eng. Naito and Eng. Ueno, to participate in regional workshops whose objective was to share information about the results of the water measurement activities which had been implemented by the project in this summer season. Additionally, he visited each branch canal of the three pilot sites to get briefing on the current situation from the project experts.
From now on, Eng. Inoue will mainly work for the field activities in the three pilot sites of the SWMT Project, including the environmental awareness campaigns and the activities for improving water distribution.

On the other hand, Eng. Ueno has successfully completed his duties for two years and left for Japan on November 7, 2014. He planned and implemented various field activities in the three pilot sites in cooperation with counterparts at many relevant organizations. Through his steady field activities, the project could get a lot of valuable findings, while the project staff and counterparts could deepen their bonds with each other.
Based on outcomes of these field activities, we will closely cooperate for every project activity as a team and do our best to make success of the project.
