Third Training of Trainers (TOT) was implemented.

The Project for Strengthening Water Management Transfer (SWMT Project) implemented the third Training of Trainers (TOT) in total of five days during the period from November 8 to 23, 2015.

In the third TOT, the SWMT Project had four training topics[1] reselected from the second TOT[2] that was implemented in 8 days during the period from February to March, 2015. Since the participants could not understand them well in the technical tests of the second TOT, the contents needed to be reviewed in the third TOT.

Furthermore, Dr. Shuichi Matsushima, a Short-term Expert of JICA, who was visiting Egypt for his final field activity from November 7 to 24, participated and supported the SWMT Project in implementing it, while he gave his technical support to counterparts (CPs) in developing the training manual.

In preparing for the third TOT, the project experts reviewed major lesson learnt in the second TOT that was to develop not only training materials but also technical tests in simple ways so that trainees can well understand the training contents without any difficulty.

Accordingly, all the trainers actually made their efforts to make the training contents as clear and simple as possible by using visual aids including photos, pictures and samples of soils. As a result, the Project could achieve its objective that "80% of the participants complete TOT at 90% level of understanding."

As for development of training manuals, since the Project set up a Task Force in July 2015, the members had a meeting to discuss the contents 10 times and finally completed the draft training manual in English which consisted of three major parts on TOT, Staff Training (ST) and WUO Training (WUOT).

From now on, the Project will translate it in Arabic and submit it to the Joint Steering Committee to get its approval on it by the end of the project.

On November 24, Dr. Matsushima presented his final report on his activities to the CPs. He explained that the Project could finally succeed in achieving three project objectives on TOT, ST and WUOT because the contents of those trainings were much improved.

Then, Eng. Ahmed Abdel Monsif, Project Manager and Head of CDIAS, commented that he cordially thanks Dr. Matsushima for his continuous technical support to the Project and would like to make full use of a method of curriculum development of trainings and the training manual that Dr. Matsushima taught to the Project for implementation of Water Management Transfer all over the country.

Although technical support to the Project by Dr. Matsushima since June, 2013 was finally completed, we will continuously do our best to implement the remaining project activities successfully, referring to technical advice by Dr. Matsushima.
