Basic Strategies of the Project

What is WAS-RoPSS Project?
WAS-RoPSS is to support the improvement of water supply, sanitation and rural livelihoods through dissemination of rope pumps for drinking water.

Basic Strategies

1. Improvement of Rope Pump technology in consideration of marketing and protection from water contamination
It is necessary to improve RP specifications technically. Rope Pump structure, assembling parts, and the installation methods will be improved through various tests and experiments. Attention will also be given to minimize Rope Pump production costs.

2. Creation of enabling environment and human resource development for Rope Pump market
The Project will assist the process of creating an enabling environment by securing the supply chain, minimizing production/sales costs, and increasing the value of the products, while providing technical support to establish a micro finance system as well as human resource development.

3. Adoption of the comprehensive approach to behavioural modification of the target population
The Project will encourage the behavioural modification of the community through the promotion of sanitation and hygiene measures and by introducing some important knowledge and skills, including water point sanitation and household water treatment.
