The symposium on participatory agricultural research was held on August 16th, 2016 to commemorate launching of the book "Farmer Research Groups: Institutionalizing Participatory Agricultural Research in Ethiopia". Participants are drawn from various institutions including federal and regional research center, CGIAR centers, higher learning institutions, NGOs and development partners. They discussed concept, practice and institutionalization of participatory approach and the Farmer Research Group (FRG) approach. It was agreed to promote the FRG approach further in the national agricultural research system and development projects. At the same time, it was suggested that impacts of the approach on research quality and farmers' capacity need to be investigated with more evidence.
