Arba Minchi in the southern region is one of the potential areas for rice production, which are untapped yet. EthioRice and National Rice Research Program are also expecting that the area can be a supplemental seed production area as its warmer climate and water availability. After a survey in the area by NRRTC, SARI and EthoRice researchers, it was decided to conduct a simple trial to see the potential. As a preparation for the trial, EthioRice conducted a training of direct seed sawing and transplanting at Fogera last week for SARI researchers and farmers for Arba Minchi. The participants also visited rice farmers' field in Fogera.
