Impact analysis for the first year's target groups of Ethio-SHEP

Comparing the results from the baseline and the end-line surveys of the first year's target groups, the project analyzed the impact of the Project technical interventions for the eight target groups in Amhara and Oromia Region.

The impact of the first year's Project intervention emerged as a certain level of yield and income increase of the target farmers. The result of Demo sites of the project could be seen as more bigger impact, however, it had become clear that the several factors and motivation among the target groups farmers greatly affects the outcome of the Project intervention. For example, current cultivation situation of the demo site, experience in horticulture crops or field crops such as potatoes which farmers selected as target crops, the size of cultivated land, and experiences of other donors intervention etc. And generally, the farmer's income level differed according to the distance from the main road and main market. The farmers living closer to the main road earn generally higher than who having less accessibility.

Additionally the project conducted the direct interview survey to the 1st year and pilot group farmers to collect the qualitative data to see the project impact at farmer level. It can be said that there are several positive impact happened on the ground and especially pilot group farmers' livelihoods are significantly improved. Based on our survey result, the project started to discuss with the C/P how to improve the project activities and interventions for the next year.
