Followed by the Project Implementation Review Mission in March 2023, the 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting for the Project for Strengthening Climate Resilience through Climate-Smart Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resource Management in Ethiopia (Climate Resilience Project) supported by JICA was held on the 15th of May 2023 in Addis Ababa. The meeting was opened and chaired by Mr. Addisu Negash, Project Director (Ministry of Agriculture: MoA) on behalf of JCC chairperson, Prof. Eyasu Elias (State Minister of MoA).

Mr. Addisu stated that the agriculture sector is highly affected by climate change. Climate change is a complex problem, and solving this problem requires proper planning and systemic thinking to strengthen the resilience to climate change. The meeting was attended by Mr. Bona Yadessa, Co-Project Director (Deputy Director, Oromia Environmental Protection Authority), Mr. Shintaro Takano, Senior Representative of JICA Ethiopia Office, Mr. Hiroyuki Kanazawa, Chief Advisor of the Project, project focal persons and other project stakeholders.

On the closing remark, Mr. Bona said that this project is part of the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) by the Government of Ethiopia in building resilience economy special in agricultural sector. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Takano highlighted JICA is very supportive of this kind of climate resilient action by Ethiopian side.
