The 3rd Climate Resilience Workshop was held during 26th-27th July 2023 among officers from Oromia Region, Jimma zone, Southwest Shewa Zone, East Shewa Zone, and the three pilot districts Setema, Dawo and Adami Ttullu Jido Kombolcha.

Mr. Hiroyuki Kanazawa, Chief Advisor of the project stated that this is the last workshop to develop the action plan. He also explicitly reminded the participants that implementation of the action plan is dependent on the tangible action among the participants after returning their duty stations and he expected especially woredas administration office to finance activities identified in the discussed action plan.

During the workshop, brief presentation on Sasakawa’s agriculture extension model was also made by technical expert from Ethiopia Country Office of Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) to share knowledge and experiences. Participants concretized activities into sub-activities and categorized sub-activities as applicable with FFS, Non-FFS and FTC. Moreover, with the support of Finance Focal persons from each woreda, participants worked on identification of necessary budget to implement the activities with the possible budget source.

On his closing remark, Mr. Girma Borena, Senior Climate Change Expert, on behalf of Project Director at Ministry of Agriculture, stated that climate resilience and adaptation activities expected to contribute to achieve food security, improve livelihood, forest and natural resource conservation in Oromia as well as Ethiopia. Mr. Girma requested Oromia Region and stakeholders at woreda level to extend their utmost support to the JICA supported Climate Resilience Project so as to achieve the goal.
