Second Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting was held

On January 17th, 2023, the 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) meeting was held at the Holiday Inn Suva, both in person and via Zoom meeting. The JCC is the highest-level decision-making committee in the project, and the purpose of the meeting was to (1) present a report on the progress, outcomes, and equipment provided to the SDG 14 Project in 2022; (2) report on the progress and outcomes of the Small-Scale Project in 2022 by the Inshore Fisheries Management Division (IFMD), Aquaculture Division, Central Division, and Western Division; (3) report on the JICA Knowledge Co-Creation Program (KCCP) by seven MoF participants; (4) approve the indicators of project evaluation and means of verification on the Project Design Matrix (PDM) and Plan of Operation (PO); and (5) approve the plan of operations for 2023.

The participants included the Ministry of Fisheries (MoF), the University of the South Pacific (USP), the Embassy of Japan, the Oversea Fishery Cooperation Foundation (OFCF), the Pacific Community (SPC), and JICA Fiji Office. The participants reported on the project activities implemented in 2022 and shared information on the plan of the project. Based on this discussion, MoF, JICA, and USP confirmed that they would continue to cooperate with each other to fulfill the project's goal of implementing SDG14.
