Restoration trials in collaboration with Udayana/Yamaguchi University

Udayana University in Bali and Yamaguchi University has a double credit program for several years. Both universities held a symposium on bioscience/biotechnology in Bali on September 21-23 and asked the Project to participate.

Upon this request, 5 persons including 2 JICA Experts, C/P from the Gunung Merapi NP Office and Assistants participated in the symposium where we made a presentation on the Project activities and an introduction of Gunung Merapi National Park.

The researchers from both universities are interested in restoration technology in degraded areas due to volcanic eruption. They made research micorrhizal inoculation and development of multi-function sheet which combines with seeds, soils and fertilizer. The research group from both universities selected trial sites for the above technologies in Batur area in Bali and possibly the restoration site in Gunung Merapi National Park.
