Tree Planting Ceremony for "Yamaha Forest"

(1) Introduction

Collaboration with Yamaha in Gunung Ciremai NP is to be conducted based on the agreement (signed in June 1, 2011) among three parties including the relevant National Park office. According to the above agreement, Yamaha concluded a contract with the Faculty of Forestry, Kuningan University as a local consultant based on recommendations from the project. The tree planting ceremony for "Yamaha Forest" was held in Lambosir Block of Gunung Ciremai NP on December 6, 2011.

(2) Implementation of Planting Ceremony

The implementation of planting ceremony is meant to mark the commencement of the restoration project in Gunung Ciremai National Park. This activity involves Kuningan Local Government, Stakeholders in Kuningan Local Government, Elementary School, and local community, with more than 300 participants. The main objective of the implementation of this activity is to provide socialization to the public about Yamaha's plan for the restoration area. This ceremony is carried out through delivery of objectives and targets by the Yamaha Group's signing of declaration to support restoration projects; planting trees in an area of 0.3 ha; and environmental education for students of elementary school around the planting area.
The tree planting ceremony is carried out in area of 0.3 ha and 300 nursery trees consisting of five local endemic species.

(3) Environmental Education for Elementary Students

In addition to ceremonial planting, environmental education for students is also held at this event. This activity aims to deliver a message about the importance of protecting and maintaining the environment, especially forests. Environmental education is given to elementary school students who participate in this planting ceremony by explaining, using a comical description about the planting of and maintaining of trees.


(4) Conclusion

The planting ceremony is the beginning of the restoration effort of the conservation areas in Gunung Ciremai National Park. The involvement of all parties is supporting the restoration in accordance with their function and roles are expected to accelerate the recovery of areas in Gunung Ciremai National Park. Conservation environmental carrying capacity is functioning properly.
