Restoration Seminar and Excursion for the project site in Gunung Merapi National Park.

(1) Back ground

It has been almost two years since the Project started. Some activities mentioned in the PDM have produced outputs. We held the Restoration Seminar for the purpose of presentation of those outputs and exchanging views, information and knowledge with other invited restoration oriented projects in Hotel Menara Peninsula in Jakarta in January 17, 2012 and also executed the excursion for the project site in Gunung Merapi National Park in January 18, 2012.

(2) Purpose

To share technologies and knowledge on restoration of degraded ecosystems in conservation areas based on the experience of Project-RECA and other trials. And also to arouse the interest of other parties both private and government institutions to collaborate and participate for in the restoration of ecosystems in degraded land.

(3) Participants

(5) Excursion

  1. Location
    • (i) Trial Restoration Area by PHKA-JICA Project-RECA in Gunung Merapi
      National Park
      (Ngablak Village, Srumbung Sub district, Magelang District, Central Java Province)
    • (ii) Rehabilitation Project by Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co.Ltd.
      (Suaka Margasatwa Paliyan (Paliyan Wildlife Sanctuary),
      Paliyan Sub district, Gunung Kidur District, Yogyakarta Province)
  2. Purpose:
    To share experience and knowledge on restoration/ rehabilitation activities
    through site observation of two projects mentioned in above (i) and (ii)

    Arriving at Yogyakarta Airport: 7:15
    Arriving at Trial Restoration Area in Ngablak Village: 9:00 (by car)
    Site Observation: 9:00-10:00
