JCC Kick-off Meeting Held

The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Kick-off Meeting was held on 26 April 2013 at the Directorate General for Small and Medium Industry (DG-SMI), Ministry of Industry (MoI). The meeting was led by DG-SMI and attended by many parties concerned, including other Directorates General in MoI, National Development Planning Agency, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, Ministry of Trade, Bank Indonesia, and provincial governments of the target regions. JCC, aimed at facilitating inter-organizational coordination, approves annual work plans, reviews overall progress, performs monitoring and evaluation, and discusses major issues.

The JCC Kick-off Meeting commenced with opening remarks by the Director General for SMI. She underlined the necessity for capacity building of government officials engaged in planning and provision of support programs to SMIs. Then, the Chief Advisor, JICA Expert Team, explained the Work Plan of the Project, covering its approach, activities, and implementation structure, and requested the necessary arrangements for the smooth execution of the project activities. The Work Plan was discussed and agreed among the participants. It was confirmed that the Project shall be implemented for the following target industries in the three regions according to the structure of DG-SMI (by region): North Sumatra (to be determined), Central Java (the metal parts industry in Tegal District), and Central Sulawesi (the cacao processing and rattan furniture industries).
