The Second Joint-coordinating Committee (JCC) and Focus of the Phase II Activity

The second JCC was convened on 1 July at the meeting room of Directorate General for Small and Medium Industry (DG-SMI) of the Ministry of Industry (MoI), in order to report and discuss progress/ achievements in the overall Project activities and the Local Industry Action Plans (LIAPs) by the Local Working Group (LWG) in each target industry/ region, and explain the activity plan during the Phase II. The committee was chaired by the secretary for DG-SMI, and attended by almost 40 counterparts from the MoI, related ministries/ institutions, and regional governments. The committee reported i) the Project activities have been performed largely as initially assumed, and ii) the LIAPs for target regions/ industries have been fairly progressed (except the rattan furniture industry in Palu City of Central Sulawesi), thus bringing about the cases which come close to and realize the challenge actions set in the LIAPs by little and little. JCC discussed and shared the necessary measures and supports to be further facilitated in view of creating the success cases of target industries.

As the Phase II will add target regions/ industries as well, JCC agreed that DG-SMI shall recommend candidate regions/ industries to support to the Expert Team after having the internal coordination. In addition, the purpose of ‘work model and guideline for local industry development' which shall be suggested as a result of the Project experience, i.e., internalization (or harmonization) of the work model and guideline with the on-going programs run by the MoI/ DG-SMI, was clarified in further detail, and then agreed by the JCC.
