The Local Working Group (LWG) for development of the aloe processing industry in Pontianak City of West Kalimantan Province held its first official meeting on 23 March 2015. The LWG was earlier established formally based upon the decision letter of the provincial governor dated 7 January 2015, whereas the LWG had held several unofficial gatherings before the official establishment.

The LWG consists of organizations in the province including Dinas Trade and Industry, Dinas Agriculture and Horticulture, Dinas Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, and Research and Standardization Center, as well as those in the city including Dinas Trade, Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives, and Dinas Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery. In the meeting, the members shared their support activities for the aloe processing industry that have the budget provision in the fiscal year 2015. They also made clear about implementation period of these activities so that they could ensure serial linkage of those activities toward achievement of the objective, that is, to gain adequate ability to produce the aloe processed products, focusing on beverage products, which are competitive in the modern market segments.

Information of these activities will later be compiled by the provincial Dinas Trade and Industry, a secretariat of the LWG, in a matrix as an action plan for development of the aloe processing industry in Pontianak City. Implementation of the action plan is expected to start by the activities related to quality test of the target companies' products, preparation for obtainment of the Good Manufacturing Process certificate, and strengthening of communication with large companies in the same industry.
