Online Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) was held in October

JICA MCHHB Project or "the Project for Enhancing the Quality of Maternal and Child Health Program and the Implementation of Maternal and Child Health Handbook in the Era of Decentralization" co-organized the Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP), international training, with Indonesia Ministry of Health (MOH) from 26 to 28 October 2021 for three days by online in this time.

The main objectives of the training were; 1) To learn how other country do empowering community through utilization MCH Handbook in pandemic era, 2) To learn how other country do capacity building of health workers in pandemic era, 3) To enhance the capacity of the participants in conducting Monitoring and Evaluation of the MCH Handbook implementation.

This training program has been conducted annually since 2007 and has become 13 th by this time. In the training, there were 30 participants participated in the training from 8 countries of Kenya, Tajikistan, Cambodia, Madagascar, Timor Leste, Lao PDR, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. For Madagascar and Papua New Guinea, this time was the first to participate in the training.

The accumulated number of participants who participated in the training has totaled in 213 from 17 foreign countries by now.

The training was held with lecturing presentations such as "Indonesia experience on Empowering community, Capacity building and Monitoring evaluation on MCH Handbook during Pandemic", "Japan experience of MCH services focusing on Child health checkup during Pandemic", "Implementation of MCH Handbook in the world and Continuum of Care (COC)" were made.

In addition to the presentations, each participating country presented the situation of MCH Handbook at each country, progresses of action plan drafted in the previous KSP training (November 2020), experiences on MCH service in the era of COVID-19 pandemic as Country presentations.

Additionally, we organized group work to make action plans on community empowerment, capacity enhancement of health care workers, how to improve capacity on monitoring and evaluation. In the group work, project experts and counterparts of Indonesia MOH assisted each country to make the action plan for these three days as facilitators.

At the last part of the training, Coordinator of Child Health and Preschool, Directorate of Family Health, who is a main counterpart of the Project, and JICA senior advisor on health summarized this three days training respectively, together with expression of gratitude to all the parties concerned.

The Project plan to continue organizing the KSP next year thereafter. The Project will provide supports with participating countries to elevate the levels of maternal and child health care through sharing the training guidelines, technical guidelines, model of care, monitoring methods, etc which were developed or under development in Indonesia. In promoting the above actions, we will utilize insights, updated situations and the contents of discussions which were obtained in this training.

The Project look forward to the continued cooperation with MOH to strengthen MCH service provision in Indonesia and concerned countries.
