Technical cooperation in MCH handbook between Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia and JICA was started in 1989. Since then, there were three technical cooperation projects had been implemented and a new project has been started in October 2018 for 5 years.
The new MCH handbook Project focuses on the improvement of MCH Handbook functions as a tool for integrated maternal and child health services and enhancing the coverage and quality of MCH services with MCH handbook. This project also aiming to develop model for better utilization of MCH handbook through collaboration with other sectors.
Based on these experiences, GOI with collaboration with JICA has started Third Country Training Program which invited various foreign countries which are interested in introducing the MCH Handbook.
To continue and improve the effort to disseminate the knowledge and experience of the history of introducing MCH Handbook in Indonesia and to further improve the maternal and child health in Indonesia through better utilization of MCH Handbook, GOI submitted a request to GOJ for a new technical cooperation project and in response to the request, the Detailed Planning Survey Team was dispatched to discuss and confirm the scope, outline, and implementation structure, and cooperation plan of the Project.
The quality of Continuum of Care for mothers and children is improved.
The capacity of Center of Excellences (COEs) for Maternal and Child Health (MCH) in promotion of the effective use of MCH Handbook for the quality of the MCH Continuum of Care in Indonesia and in foreign countries is strengthened.
