Mid-term evaluation and future plan

It has been two and a half years since the project started, and we are at the halfway of the Project. To review the activities implemented so far and confirm the activities for the remaining project period, the Government of Indonesia and JICA have jointly conducted the mid-term evaluation in February 2020.

The Project has been conducted training and surveys implementing rice agricultural insurance and strengthening its capacity so that small-scale rice farmers can continue to work even when they are severely damaged by natural disasters, pests and other risks. The evaluation team shared the results of the activities conducted in the first half of the Project, reviewed the indicators and modified some activities of the Project, and re-established the activity plan. The results of the evaluation and the activity plans for the second half of the Project were presented and endorsed at JCC (Joint Coordinating Committee).

In the latter half of the Project, it will; 1. Promote the establishment of a decision making body for agricultural insurance that brings together related agencies and organizations, leading to efficient decision-making and implementation of the agricultural insurance. 2. Develop materials and human resources in the target areas (East Java Province and South Sulawesi Province) so that AUTP (State agricultural insurance of for rice farms) will be more widely known and implemented. It has also been decided that the Project will try a new attempt, Area Yield Index Insurance, in West Java Province to supplement AUTP.
