ACTIVITY FOR COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT (ACE) PROJECT PROGRESS

Implementation of Activity for Community Empowerment (ACE) has been done in Kabupaten Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh City trough cooperation with Mega Abadi and Yagasu Consultant. There are 6 groups in this activity. They are; Cake making, Embroidery, Chicken egg farm, Sewing, and traditional Cake, and wet and dry cake. Two (2) ACE groups and four (4) ACE groups were proposed to be brought into realization in Kota Banda Aceh and Kabupaten Aceh Besar respectively.

1. Banda Aceh

1.1 le Masen: Cake

This group has activity for baking cakes like bakwan, risol, donat and apom manis. JICA supported the group with some equipment, and technical assistant. This group can increase their production quantity after receiving the support. This group consists of 10 members. They are Hamdiah, Kairani, Maryani, Nurmala anzib, Zaimah, Naini, Mardhiah, Cut Delina (Group leader), Khadijah, and Raimah.

1.2 Lamdingin: Embroidery

The embroidery group has activity to produce embroidery dresses and embroidery bed covers. This group was provided sewing machine, sewing table and some chairs by JICA. By receiving these equipments, embroidery group can produce the dresses faster than before. This group consists of 8 members. They are Rahmah, Maya agustina, Hj. Husna (group leader), Husnah, Rosmiati, Nurfarida, Syarifah rozana, and Ida Lismawati.

2. Aceh Besar

2.1. Cot Preh; Chicken Egg Farm

This group has activity to produce chicken eggs. JICA supported 180 chickens and injection and food to keep them in good health. The group will breed 180 chickens in the house yard. Additional chickens can increase the egg production than before. This group is lead by Ibu Husna.

2.2. Empe Trieng; Sewing

The group has activity to produce Moslem dresses, Kebaya (special dress for Indonesian woman). This group was provided sewing machine, sewing table and some chairs. The group members can work more effectively and efficiently to sew new dresses using new sewing machine supported by JICA. The production of this group will be prepared based on order.

2.3. Empe Trieng; Traditional Cake

The group has activity to produce cakes like Meusekat, dodol, and wajik. This group is lead by ibu Suwarni. JICA provided some materials like stove, saucepan, tray, etc. These traditional cakes are marketable and will be sold to Banda Aceh City. These cakes are especially sold as Traditional Aceh food as a gift.

2.4. Empe Trieng; Wet and dry cakes

JICA supported this group by providing baking equipment and raw materials. This is very helpful and the group can produce the cakes much more than before they have this baking equipment. The group is lead by ibu Mutia, and they produce cakes like bakwan, risol, doughnut and kue Lapis. These cakes will be sold to coffee stalls and small traditional stores in Aceh Besar and Banda Aceh.
