The Seminar on “Heritage of Water Infrastructure” took place.

On April 21st, the seminar on “Heritage of Water Infrastructure” took place in the conference room of Ministry of Public Works in Jakarta and around 60 persons in charge of water resources including Ministry of Public Works attended. This seminar was held as part of the events surrounding “World Water Day”.

Five panelists gave presentations in the seminar. Hitoshi Baba Expert as water resource policy adviser gave the presentation titled “Nature friendly and Culture harmonious River Engineering”, where he introduced historical sabo facilities in Japan, such as Otani-gawa sabo dam (Waki-machi, Mima city, Tokushima Pref.) and Minamoto sabo dam of Midai-gawa sabo facilities (Ashiyasu, Minami Alps City, Yamanashi Pref.), which are designated as Civil Engineering Heritage chosen by Japan Society of Civil Engineers. Otani-gawa sabo dam is designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.
