From May 6th to 8th, at the event of Jumber (Jumpa Bakti dan Gembira)(Meeting, Volunteer, and Pleasure) which is held once in 2 years by PMI (the Red Cross) in Jember District, we conducted an educational activity for junior and high school students in the district.

Jumbara is an event to bring up ability of youth who take over the next generation. 1700  students  from 84 schools joined the activity.  During the 3 day camp, they experienced variety of trainings or contests along with the multiple topics such as "emergency aids", "care", and "preparation for disasters".

Using this opportunity at this event, our project decided to have a poster contest and a lecture about sediment disaster.

70 representative students from each school joined for this educational activity which was held at a facility in armory. The students listened to the lecture of sediment disaster by SHIIBA expert, created posters, and visited upper stream of Putih River where Banjir Bandang occurred in 2006. Also, at the lecture, demonstration of rain gauges and water level gage installed in the last March was showed.

Some of the attending students asked questions, "What should we care about if there are dangerous points in neighbor?" or "What we high school students can contribute to?" etc. Also at the site visiting, other students asked questions with taking notes.  It seemed that they took a very warm interest in the event.
