On 12th August, we reported progress of the Integrated Disaster Mitigation Management for ‘Banjir Bandang’ to Dr. Donny, Director of Water Resources and Irrigation, National Development Planning Agency.  We, Ms. Kanako Hiraoka, Project Formulation Advisor, Mr. Hisaya Sawano, Advisor for Water Resources Policy and Mr. Toshiyasu Ueno, expert, have reported on the performance of the project so far such as ‘Banjir Bandang Hazard Maps’ at Jember District as well as ‘Manual (draft) for  Researching Banjir Bandang Hazardous Area’; we also explained the policy on our future activities.

Dr. Donny, Director, pointed out that the project must be advanced with full understanding on the mechanism of generation of Banjir Bandang and with closer tie-up with the counterpart.  Dr. Donny, Director, expected strongly that performance of the activities in Jember District will be reflected to the improvement of capability for disaster mitigation in the Banjir Bandang Hazardous Areas throughout the country.
