Installation of a water level sensor and its monitoring

For improving regional early warning and emergency measures, we installed a simple water level sensor at the upper stream of Jompo River.

The water level sensor was made with parts which were available in Indonesia based on the same model completed by Hidetomi Oi JICA adviser's proposal. Regarding the preparation for the installation to the site such as preparation of protective tubes and basic foundation work, we cooperated with PU and the community.

Especially, the plantation office, which is the major landowner in the area, helped us with procurement of materials for installation, installation work, and installation of monitoring equipments, etc. With their advice, we could reduce the cost of installation, for example, using the recycled materials bought at market for protective tubes, etc.

The monitoring equipment is installed at inside of the plantation office, and the staffs monitor them, and they inform to the related offices depends on the situation.

Already we installed rain gages at the Jompo River. Along with this, we hope the water level sensor is utilized by the community and it improves early warning and emergency measures.
