Short-term experts gave lectures at the National Seminar for Sediment Disaster

From October 20th to 21st, the National Seminar for Sediment Disaster was held at Magelang District in Central Java province. About 200 participants such as trainees from Sabo Technical Centre and staffs from all over the national and regional agencies joined in the seminar, including engineers in Ministry of Public Works who graduated Natural Disaster Management Graduate School in Gajah Mada University.

At the opening ceremony on 20th, Mr. Pitoyo, Director of River and Coast in Ministry of Public Works, delivered a keynote speech and Mr. Toshiyasu Ueno expert reported on the activity of Integrated Disaster Mitigation Management Project for "Banjir Bandang".

Then, adding to staffs from Gajah Mada University; National Disaster Management Agency; Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics; and Ministry of Public Works, Short-term experts who were sent from Japan gave lectures. The Short-term experts' lectures are as following: "Sediment disaster Risk Management" by Mr. Koji Morita, Director of Sabo Division, Department of Civil Engineering, Ishikawa Prefecture, "Early Warning Information and Hazard Mapping for Sediment-related Disaster" by Mr. Shin-ichiro Hayashi, researcher at Sabo Division, Research Center for Disaster Risk Management, National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management in Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
