Short-term experts finished their session

The two Short-term experts, Mr. Koji Morita; Director of Sabo Division,Ishikawa Prefecture and Mr. Shin-ichiro Hayashi; researcher at Sabo Division in National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management who visited Indonesia and gave trainings about "Hazard Mapping" and "Emergency Evacuation" since October 14th, finished all the scheduled work and returned to their homeland.

During their visit, the Short-term experts gave technical trainings at table top exercise of early warning system which were held at the model site in Jember District. Also they gave lectures at the National Seminar for Sediment Disaster held in Central Java Province about: Method of making a risk management plan against massive sediment disasters; hazard mapping for "Banjir Bandang"(sediment disaster); and Method of Early Warning Information.

The last day of their session, on October 22nd, the activities were reported at Ministry of Public Works, Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, and JICA Indonesia Office. The Short-term experts pointed out that it would be very important to develop observation equipments and strengthen collaboration between upper and down stream villages and also between governments and communities to establish the early warning and emergency measures against sediment disasters.
