On November 18th, we held the Fourth Liaison and Coordination conference with SATLAK of Jember District. This conference's purpose was for sharing the information about activity performances of the half year after this May and the table-top simulations which has been recently held and for discussing about the manual draft of the early warning and emergency evacuation at Jompo River area.

For the Conference, about 30 members joined from related agencies of SATLAK and regional governments along the Jompo River.

At the beginning of the Conference, Eddy Director of Residents Protection, who was in charge of liaison at SATLAK of Jember District, made an opening speech.  Then Mr.Toshiyasu Ueno, Chief Advisor, explained about general outline, schedule, operation scheme, and progress of the overall project.

Thereafter, Professor Evita, who was facilitator at the simulations, and Instructor Rhondi from Jember University explained about the current simulations and manual draft producing. Then Mr. Shusaku SHIIBA expert reported the past half-year project performances and proposed the future plans for the next last one year to SATLAK.

The attendants made many opinions and comments such as "the table-top simulations was very practical and effective", "after the simulations, we have actually started exchanging information about rainfall and water levels" etc. Furthermore, they made requests, for example, they want to have field exercises rather than table-top simulations, to have educational activity in the community along with the exercises, to improve the manual draft of Jompo River through the exercise experiences, and to produce a pamphlet type simple manual to easy understanding for residents, etc.

Also it became a meaningful meeting such as confirming the communication routs among the related members.

This Liaison and Coordination conference was the last event for Mr. Shusaku SHIIBA expert during his term. However, the project will be performed further at the model sites with taking in these precious discussions.
