As of November 30, 2010, Mr. Shusaku Shiiba has returned home after ending his term of office here for more than 2 years.  Mr. Shiiba has engaged in mainly giving guidance on Integrated Disaster Mitigation Management for “Banjir Bandang” in Surabaya and Jember.  For his replacement, Mr. Keiji Yoshida, expert has started his new post as of November 25, 2010.

Taking opportunity of this leaving and arriving of the said experts, we have reported the development of our activities so far to parties concerned such as the counterpart of this project.  In Ministry of Public Works, we have met Dr. Amron, Director General of Water Resources, Mr. Pitoyo, Director of River and Coast and Dr. Hasanudin, Chief of  International Cooperation Division.

Mr. Shiina, expert has explained about activities in the model area, Jompo River in Jember, such as the observation for establishment of the early warning and emergency measures as well as the desk-top simulations.  Expectation for popularization of the achievement in the model area throughout the nation has been expressed from the Ministry of Public Works side.
