Counterpart training has started.

A counterpart training has started on January 24, which is supposed to continue until February 3. Two men are participating in the training --- Mr. Hariyono Utomo, the chief of Sabo Technical Center, Directrate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works, and Mr. Edy, the head of Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember.

The objective of the training is to study the current situation and its management in Banjir Bandang in Japan and to deepen its practical understanding about Banjir Bandang management by experiencing the crisis management structure on site.

On January 24, the first day of the training, the trainees made a courtesy visit to Sabo Department, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Mr. Noriyuki Minami, the director of Sabo Department, introduced the examples that the results of Sabo technology exchanges with all over the countries including Indonesia are also put to practical use in Philippines and Latin America. Mr. Hariyono Utomo explained the current situation and its response in Mt. Merapi eruption by using photos and illustrations.
