JICA joined the PMI activity

PhotoGathering members of "Youth Red Cross"

Activity of "Sparkling Beginner Achievement Open III" is every 2 year activity held by PMI, a Red Cross Organization in Indonesia, at Silo in Jember. The holding of this activity is the third time that was held on January 28th – 30th.

The activity was aimed to deliver knowledge for "Youth Red Cross", which is joined by Elementary school students in Jember District, by some of contests about first aid and disaster preparedness. There were participants consist of 552 of Youth Red Cross and 104 Coaches of Young Red Cross.

JICA supported this activity that related with mitigation of banjir bandang disaster in order to motivate the schools in increasing their awareness for banjir bandang.

In January 29th evening, Mr. Yoshida Expert had a lecture for coaches titled "Banjir bandang Early Preparedness for Beginner". While the lecture, the students watched the Banjir bandang animation at the camping area. It seems that the coaches and the students listened and watched very intently.

On next day, JICA also facilitated the students in the poster creation contest. This activity was followed by 28 teams of participant. The students would have tried to draw the poster by knowledge based on the animation. After that, the winners were delivered the prize by Mr. Yoshida Expert on the Closing Ceremony.
