JICA and the Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember district held the socialization for Banjir Bandang disaster.

Mr. Edy made a speech for socialization

JICA and the Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember district cooperatively held the socialization for Banjir Bandang disaster in March 30th, because many residents had been afraid of Banjir Bandang, caused by the sediment related disasters in February and March. This socialization was held in Kemuri area, where the Banjir Bandang disaster hit in 2006.

Mr. Edy, who is the head of the Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember district, and the District Military Command Secretary made speeches for the socialization. Mr. Edy, who went to Japan for receiving the counterpart training by JICA about 2 month ago, said that Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster victims were much smaller than Ache in 2004, whose Richter scale was as large as Japan, because Japan had already prepared countermeasures against earthquake and tsunami.

Next, the staff of the District Military Command made a presentation about safety point for evacuation by their investigation.

Moreover, Mr. Yoshida Expert made a presentation about exactly knowledge for disasters, because in this huge Japan disaster some students successfully survive by receiving usual education and training for disasters. After that presentation, he showed the animation movie about Banjir Bandang and made a presentation again about JICA project for Banjir Bandang. And he also demonstrated rain gage observation.

Finally, the head of Pakis area explained their activities in last time disasters and the audiences had a discussion about today's presentation.
