Held the Fifth Liaison and Coordination conference with SATLAK

Mr. Edy gave a presentation about the Counterpart training.

JICA held the Fifth Liaison and Coordination conference with SATLAK of Jember district on 27th April, and there were about 40 attendances who were concerned with SATLAK and JICA activity.

First, each organization, which is Board of nation unity, politic and public protection (BAKESBANGPOLLINMAS), Social agency, Public work agency, District military command, Police, Kalijompo plantation, Forest and plantation agency, Red Cross Indonesia (PMI), Amateur Radio Organization (ORARI), Radio Republic Indonesia (RRI), Public relation office, reported how they performed on sediment related disaster in February and March, so that they were able to share in experiences on disaster.

Next, Mr. Edy as Head of BAKESBANGPOLLINMAS, who went receiving the Counterpart training to Japan in January, reported his activity in Japan. He said that he was be able to recognize the countermeasures for Banjir Bandang disasters by Japanese government through understanding the survey method in sediment hazard area and also the benefit of data storage, and watching the training for risk management in huge scale disaster.

Then, YPM established as NGO by Dr. Evita in Jember University gave a presentation of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in Kalijompo, because YPM keep considering the SOP after the evacuation training in October, 2010. The SOP is laid down how each organization performs and informs on rainfall time.

Further, Mr. Yoshida Expert also gave a presentation of the manual for researching Banjir Bandang hazardous area. The manual indicates the procedures for founding on the GIS where landslides are occurred easily, which are origins of Banjir Bandang on upstream area, and how broad Banjir Bandan is spread on downstream area. And he introduced the equipment for early warning system for Banjir Bandang and demonstrated the warning by water level sensor and rainfall gage. In the demonstration, Mr. Agus living in model site also explained his activity, when the sensor gave a warning.

Moreover Mr. Tokunaga Expert of Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) explained the organization for disasters called BPBD in local governments and its activity.

Various information were provided to the meeting, and Satlak members will keep sharing in these information.
