Supervision Team Meeting

On September 14th, Supervision Team Meeting for Manual and Action Plan was held at a meeting room in Sabo Technical Centre, Yogyakarta. It was held along with the recommendation of establishing an organization to review contents and composition for finalizing the Manual, etc. from the Project Supporting Committee held in this June and Terminal Evaluation Report of the Project.

In the meeting, related persons of Ministry of Public Works, including Mr. Sudarsono, Chief of Sub-Directorate of Disaster Mitigation, Mr. Hariyono Utomo, Head of Sabo Technical Centre, Mr. Untung, Head of Sabo experimental station, and former Director of Sabo Technical Centre, Mr. Mulyanto, Mr. Subarkah and Mr. Haryono participated. From Japanese side, Mr. Toshiyasu UENO expert and Mr. Keiji YOSHIDA expert of Integrated Disaster Mitigation Management Project for "Banjir Bandang", Dr. Taro UCHIDA, Senior Researcher of Sabo Division, National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (NILIM), MLIT, who was invited to Indonesia as short-term expert, Dr. Atsuhiko KINOSHITA, Manager of Quality Assurance and Investigation, Rokko Sabo Office, Kinki Regional Development Bureau, MLIT, and Mr. Yoshio TOKUNAGA expert, JICA Chief Adviser for strengthening the Organizations for Disaster Prevention participated.

Draft of the Manual for Researching Banjir Badang Hazardous Area, the Manual for Emergency Evacuation for Banjir Bandang and the Action Plan for improving the capability for Banjir Bandang disaster mitigation all over Indonesia were presented in the meeting. Regarding these, practical and concrete issues were discussed such as revision of Indonesian title and clarification of the roles of each organization in emergency evacuation and exchange of opinions for improvement was facilitated. The short-term experts mentioned that the past deep-seated landslide site is important element when we extract the deep-seated landslide hazardous areas.
