Joined the PMI Seminar.

JICA joined the seminar held by PMI Jember Branch, a Red Cross Organization in Indonesia. JICA, the head of the Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember district and the District Military Command made presentations about disaster preparedness. JICA explained about the risk of Bajir Bandang in Jember by using of Banjir Bandang hazard map and introduced Early Warning System for Banjir Bandang in their project. In the discussion, One participant asked them why did JICA start the project in Jember and another one also asked why didn't JICA install Early Warning equipment all of the river in Jember, even though they might recognize high possibility of Banjir Bandang occurrence. Then JICA explained that this project was started by the heavy damage of Banjir Bandang on January 2006 in Jember and JICA had the priority for each river in Jember, which wasn't only considered with possibility of occurrence for Banjir Bandang, but also was considered with social condition. This seminar was broadcasted by the local radio station.
