Opening speech by Mr. Pitoyo as Director-General of River and Coast Agency in Ministry of Public Works.

JICA held the closing workshop in Jember to disseminate their activity fruits, like making Banjir Bandang hazard maps, establishment early warning system for Banjir Bandang, and socialization for residents, for their stakeholders on January 5th, 2012, because they have already closed the Jember office which was established by the Kickoff Seminar in April, 2009.

In opening of this workshop, there were speeches by Mr. Urip as the 2nd Assistant in Jember District, Mr. Pitoyo as the Director-General of River and Coast Agency in Ministry of Public Works and so on. Then Mr. Urip and Mr. Yoshida Experts signed the Certificate of Handover which was defined the early warning equipment for handover.

Participants looked the early warning equipment handed over to Jember district.

And Mr. Yoshida Expert reported JICA activity in Jember, which had been conducting from April, 2009 to December, 2011. Moreover there was the panel discussion by Mr. Sukaryo from the PMI Jember Branch as a Red Cross Organization in Indonesia, Dr. Evita from the YPM as the NGO by Jember University staff, Mr. Edy from the Board of Nation Unity, Politic and Public Protection in Jember district (BAKESBANGPOLLINMAS), Mr. Haryono Utomo from the Ministry of Public Works and Mr. Ueno Expert from JICA. In this panel discussion YPM, BAKESBANGPOLLINMAS and PMI made presentations about their cooperation for JICA. Then they discussed how did they consider the fruits of JICA activity, how would they conduct the cooperation, how expectation would they have about early warning system, between panelists and participants of the workshop.

At last Mr. Ueno Expert presented his great thanks to Jember people on the cooperation of JICA project and the workshop was closed.
