Investigated in Palu.

There was Banjir Bandang disaster at Sigi districit in Central Sulawesi province on December 3rd, 2011 and unfortunately there were some damage as 4 persons had past away and 2 persons were missing. So Mr. Yoshida Expert and staffs of the Ministry of Public Works and Sulawesi 3rd River Office in Ministry of Public Works (BWS Sulawesi III) went to investigation on the field in January 18th, 2012.

According to the hearing for Head of village by Mr. Yoshida Expert, there was strange noise like bomb around slope behind the residence area at 14:00 on December 3rd, when it was raining heavily, and residents began to evacuate by hearing the big noise. But Banjir Bandang had hit the residence area at 15:30 and old women whose evacuation had been delayed were damaged by Banjir Bandang.

Mr. Yoshida Expert explained that it was typical Banjir Bandang that deep-seated landslide based on granite rocks turned into Banjir Bandang directly and this Banjir Bandang hit the residence area. According to this result of the investigation, Mr. Yoshida Expert advised on the point to recover the channel temporally and transfer of the houses from the hazardous area to safety areas for the head of village and staffs of BWS Sulawesi III. The head of village also explained that some families that were damaged by Banjir Bandang began to transfer to safety area.
