Opening speech by Mr. Pitoyo as Director-General of River and Coast Agency in Ministry of Public Works.

JICA held the training to disseminate their project activity fruits at Padang in West Sumatra Province from February 7th to 9th, 2012.

Mr. Pitoyo as the Director-General of River and Coast Agency in Ministry of Public Works who came from Jakarta made a speech on the opening of this training. And Mr. Yoshida Expert made a lecture about JICA activity in Jember.

Firstly Mr. Yoshida Expert made a presentation about JICA activity in Jember, demonstrated the working of rainfall gauge and discussed with participants about the observation methods of rainfall.

Participants learned the GIS software.

Next, two participants used one laptop to learned the analysis and making of Banjir Bandang Hazard Map by GIS as same as the training held in Central Sulawesi Province. Participants from the Sumatra 5th River Office in Ministry of Public Works (BWS Sumatra V), the Water Resource Management Agency (Dinas PSDA) in West Sumatera Province, the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in West Sumatera Province, and Ministry of Public Works (PU) seem to understand the making method of Banjir Bandang Hazard Map in the short term.
