As the base for the local activities, we have secured an office space in the Prefectural Office of Jember Prefecture. This matter had been requested to the Governor of the Jember Prefecture by Mr. Widagdo, Director for River, Lake and Reservoir, Ministry of Public Works.

By this step,  ‘Banjir Bandang Disaster Mitigation Management Project’ is now executed at 3 bases; Jakarta, Surabaya and Jember.  Since we have a model site of the said project in Jember, we will use the above-mentioned new office effectively for the practical execution of the project, collecting information and the like. We will continue to keep a close communication with relative agencies in Province, Prefecture and Jakarta so that we may push forward the project effectively and efficiently.

By the way, since the building of the said Prefectural Office has wide empty spaces in it, we have asked and got an approval to use the space in addition to that for our office as mentioned above. As a starter, we have set the banner of JICA for public relations in the lobby of the Office of the Prefecture.  We will use the space for introduction of our project activities to the public.
