Training was Held by Short-term Experts at a Model Site

PhotoParticipants who receive training by Short-term Experts

On November 9, four short-term experts visited a model site in Jember District. They taught by demonstration to local working staffs about interpretation of micro topography and conducted site investigations at the Kali Jompo River, which is designated as a test basin of identifying deep-seated landslide risk area.

In the training held at the project office in Jember District, members from Irrigation office of Ministry of Public Works (PU) in Jember District and from Forestry Department, and also four staffs from PU in East Java Province joined. Short-term experts directly gave training to them about the methods of stereoscopic viewing of aerial photograph with unaided eyes or stereoscopes and interpretation of micro topography.

This training was not lecture style. With Short-term experts’ demonstrations and participants’ practical training such as stereoscopic viewing and interpretation of micro topography, the training gathered participants’ interest and satisfaction and became very fruitful. Also, it was seen that participants taught each other during the training.

Even after the scheduled time was passed, many questions and opinions didn’t stop. It seems to deepen the understandings of importance about micro topography in the case of grasping deep-seated landslide risk area.
