Since rainy season started, sediment disasters have occurred frequently at many places in Indonesia. At Bruno sub-district Purworejo District in Central Java province, on November 20th, heavy rain fall lead to landslides and many houses and public facilities such as roads have damaged.

On November 30th, with a request from the governor of Purworejo District, staffs of Sabo Technical Centre in Ministry of Public Works and JICA experts belonging to Integrated Disaster Mitigation Management Project for "Banjir Bandang" conducted investigation at the sediment disaster site. Before the filed investigation, at the government building in Bruno sub-district, Mr. Sigit who worked as local government staff gave explanation about the disaster damages.

After his explanation, the team investigated the disaster stricken area in Giyombong village. The geological condition in this area consists of tuff and it easily causes landslides. The result of this investigation revealed that many shallow landslides already generated at steep slopes. To prevent landslides in the case of rainfalls, they explained to local staffs about safe evacuation locations and water processes such as which would keep out rain water from falling into the slope clacks.

After the filed investigation, they visited the government building of Purworejo District, and discussed about the investigation result report and future disaster management.
