On December 3rd, at a lecture hall of PMI (Red Cross) office in Jember Prefecture, a lecture about sediment disaster was held to educational activity volunteers.

Before it starts the serious rainy season, the Project team plans educational activities at the regional level and trainings cooperating with SATLAK (The Disaster Management Committee) of Jember Prefecture and PMI which is one of the members of SATLAK.

In this training, total 31 volunteers, a volunteer from the each town, joined. From 7 PM, the lecture began with the introduction by Shusaku SHIIBA expert, and continued to CD animation show which was co-produced by ISDM project and STC. Then Mr. Anton Dharma, who works in Lumajang Irrigation office of Ministry of Public Works in East Java province, the counterpart of this project team, explained about sediment disaster and Early Warning and Evacuation System.

Mr.Dharma passed SABO course in Gajah Mada University. He has abundant knowledge regarding landslide prevention. Including quizzes and close relationship with the lector, the lecture was well planed to keep the trainees interested in. It was a very significant lecture for the trainees.

We hope that the each volunteer makes full use of what they leaned through this training at the actual educational activities in their community.
