PhotoLiaison and Coordination conference

On January 21st, we had the Second Liaison and Coordination conference with SATLAK (The Disaster Management Committee). We explained the past project performances at the model sites and discussed about the future cooperative activities.

About 30 participants including members from Jember University and each agency which composes of SATLAK joined in the conference. At the beginning of the conference, Eddy Director from Linmas (Residents Protection Agency) made an opening speech. Also, there was a presentation that information stations which deliver information related to disasters round-the-clock were moving forward for system implementation in some villages and towns.

Furthermore, the expectations to our project were mentioned such as early warning and emergency measure and minimization of disasters by using these information stations and our support of establishing District’s guidelines for disaster management.

Continuously, Shusaku SHIIBA expert explained the past project performances and the future plans.

A SATLAK participant presented that based on information related to the dangerous area SATLAK would like to deliver early warning and give educational activities towards the residents. Also one of them mentioned about needs of related activities for improving the ability to respond to disaster and raising awareness among the regional residents and requested the expansion of cover area to investigate and analyze the risk. With reflecting these opinions, we are planning to move forward with the second year activities at the model sites.
