Field Investigation in Sinjai District

Photothe upper stream basin of the Baringang River

On February 24th, we conducted a field investigation in Sinjai District, South Sulawesi Province. In Sinjai District, Banjir Bandang has occurred in June, 2006. It was a massive disaster where 184 people were killed and main roads were blocked out by the floods and landslides.

Now, we implement extraction work of dangerous area for Banjir Bandang in Sinjai District as well as Jember District in East Java Province, a model site. At the upper stream basin of the Baringang River where this time we conducted the field investigation we found many remains of shallow landslides.
