JICA Socialized Lesson Study for MTs

PELITA JICA conducted socialization activity related to Lesson Study learning in Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Bantul District; this was conducted in hall of Ministry of Religious Affairs in Bantul District, Thursday (29/11).

Head of the Office, Mr. H Abdul Majid MA, said that they welcome this socialization activity which initiated by JICA.

"Lesson Study is a learning that can improve academic achievement of students. Therefore, education staffs in Bantul Office of Religious Affairs welcome this Lesson Study activity, and we expect that this will trigger students' achievements and also hopefully we can reach our goal to create generation with good achievement academically and religiously", he said.

Mr. Abdul Majid added that educational staffs in Bantul Office of Religious Affairs are ready to conduct Lesson Study activity in every school within Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Meanwhile, JICA expert for PELITA, Mr. Atsushi Tsukui explained that PELITA JICA put big hope for educational progress in Bantul area.

"We expect that this socialization can contribute to Lesson Study development in the future. Participants who attended socialization activity are teachers and principals that we expect to be the motors of activities in their schools," explained Tsukui.

Mr. Tsukui also emphasized that Lesson Study is effective in learning activity for students and teacher. Further he explained that Lesson Study will make teachers become active on their work.

Mr. Miftahul Bahri, one of the participants from MTs Maarif Dlingo Bantul explained to Bernas Jogja that the implementation of Lesson Study in learning in Bantul is an important thing for improving school's achievement. But the thing is, it needs to be supported by all stakeholders.

"Successfulness of Lesson Study program has to be supported by many stakeholders so that the program will be lighter to carry out and fun, and will get to the target," explained Miftahul Bahri.

170 participants participated in this activity, comprised people from many elements, such as educational staffs of Bantul Office of Religious Affairs , principals from various level of school, MTs teachers, and school supervisors.
