The 2nd Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting held for the Project

The 2nd Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) Meeting was held at the board room in Ministry of Public Health Services (MoPHS) on 28the September, 2012. The JCC consists of representatives of both JICA and Kenyan side, established for the smooth and effective implementation of the Project.

In the 1st JCC Meeting which was held on December 2011, the main objective was to propose the revised Project Design Matrix (PDM) based on the current situation, and it was approved by the JCC member. The objectives of the 2nd JCC Meeting were to report and review the overall progress based on the approved PDM and share the planned activities for the 2nd Project year.

The project in the 1st year was the induction phase and started from set-up of the Project office and recruitment of the Project staff. In addition, the orientation workshop to stakeholder about the Project was conducted. Following the initial stage, the project has started developing guidelines and tools such as CHS Communication Strategy, CHW Training Manual, Monitoring & Evaluation framework, and Operations Research proposal. In the 2nd year, the Project is planning to support finalization of some of those guidelines including conducting pre-test and to facilitate the dissemination as well as implementation of them at the community level.

In addition, project operation during the Kenya's general election in March 2013 was discussed in the JCC Meeting. However, there are still many uncertainties and the Project was suggested to follow the direction from both Kenyan/Japanese Government and JICA.

Finally, it was discussed the following project after the completion of the Project and the Project was suggested to make the best efforts to complete planned activities for the 2nd year and has a good exit plan for the best outcomes at the end of the Project period.
