Community Health Services Website

It has been more than 2 years since the project was first launched and the Project has supported the development of advocacy, capacity building and policy documents as well as tools. However, their printing and distribution cost is challenging and there has been an urgent need for sharing them more cost effectively. In addition, the environment around the CHS has been changed drastically such as the introduction of County system, merger of Ministry of Public Health & Sanitation and Ministry of Medical Services as a Ministry of Health, and restructuring of human resource in the Ministry. Following these situations, increasing CHS awareness and advocacy for the same became critical, thereby a platform enabling access of information on CHS then became of the essence. Thus, the development of the CHS website was paramount and there was need to expedite the process. This process started late last year and finally it was completed launched live and uploaded on the Ministry's server in March 2014.

Currently, people can access basic documents and latest information on CHS electronically. In addition they can download CHS related documents and tools through the website. It also consists of products such as TV programs, radio programs, newspaper articles that were the results of advocating CHS to the media by the Project. Social media has also been incorporated since now CHS has Youtube links, Facebook and Twitter handles for the viewers. This enhances the communication between people and Community Health Services Unit.

It is important to manage and update the website timely and correctly since old information can grow redundant, and can be a cause of decreasing the customers' satisfaction. The website should be managed and updated by the Community Health Services Unit, thus the Project sensitized the staff on updating and managing the website. The Project also introduced the monitoring system for the website (Google Analytics) to the officers so that they can monitor and analyze the website activities for continuous improvement.

The Project is committed to continuously support the Community Health Services Unit in managing the website sustainably.
