Project for Capacity Building for Bus Operation Policy and Management in Nairobi Metropolitan Area

     日本語

Public transport in Nairobi Metropolitan Area such as buses and matatu (small and medium-sized passenger buses with less than 35 seats) operated by private operators are responsible for transporting citizens, but many operators run without rules and regulations and supply overlapping services on the same routes, and their safety and service levels are low. The existence of several relevant agencies at national and local government level and the high level of duplication of work is one of the reasons for the inability to properly manage the operators. In order to ensure the provision of safe and quality-assured bus services in Nairobi Metropolitan Area that are trusted by citizens, this project aims to establish a management system for the bus system and to strengthen the capacity of the organization responsible for this role.
