Baseline survey

In order to grasp current situation of science and mathematics education in Laos, project implementation team visited 20 target schools. During the survey, 22 lessons were observed and 24 teachers were interviewed, while 635 students answered questionnaire.

Results of this survey show that half of both teachers and students feel difficulty of mathematics. However, it was also found that all teachers and 90% of students liked mathematics and waited eagerly for the mathematics lessons. These results encouraged project team to make lessons comprehensible and enjoyable.
