In November 2010, 10 project counterparts, who are strongly involved in educational administration in Lao PDR, visited to Japan as trainees for a week. The training programs were conducted by the cooperation with Kawaguchi City Board of Education and Tokyo Shoseki Co., Ltd. Major outputs in the training are as follows.

  2. Through visiting schools and observing lessons, trainees could imagine how lesson plans were prepared. They recognized that Japanese teachers taguht students in several subjects as well as nurtureed children through all activities in a school.
  3. Trainees were able to obtain concept and practices of teacher training in Japan. This experience may be used when they review teacher training in Laos.
  4. In discussion with the Board of Education (BOE) members in Japan, trainees knew a structure of Japanese BOE, role of a pedagogical supervisor and budgetary system which may be useful for improving educational administration in Laos.

As a whole, trainees obtained knowledge on Japanese lesson and teacher education. This training program in Japan produced significant power for the trainees in terms of managing the ITSME project as they understood role and activities of the project.
