From the beginning of new school year in September, the ITSME trainers will manage TOT (Training of Trainers) for principals and ATs. In the TOT, the project will survey actual cluster activities as well as SBT in order to implement it effectively.

The survey team visited three PESs, eight DEBs, two TTCs and 16 schools in its target area.

For the Director of PES and DEB, the survey team explained project progress, policy and future activities. Although directors and DEBs could understand a necessity of the project activities, it seems difficult for them to secure enough budgets to manage the activities. Therefore, the project team needｓ to discuss how teacher training could be effectively organized within a limited budget.

The survey team interviewed principals, deputy principals and ATs at schools. As it was found that schools had several crucial concerns such as insufficient number of teachers, insufficient teachers' ability for producing teaching materials and insufficient teachers' understanding of textbooks to improve lessons, the project realized that schools should have strategies to overcome these concerns. On the other hand, the survey revealed that several schools managed lesson observations and feedback sessions. Therefore, the project is planning to improve lesson contents by introducing ITSME model lesson plans into these schools. In addition, the project also has to consider how they can conduct teacher training sessions by dealing with issues such as shortage of budget and materials at school level and insufficient time of teachers due to other school work.

The project would like to plan future activities based on the results of this survey to improve quality of activities.
