Fourth workshop was held for a week from 8th August.

There were two important activities in this workshop.

Firstly, project stakeholders discussed project future activities. In order to discuss the activities, we summarized previous project activities and confirmed project objective. Moreover, we considered how outputs of training in Japan and results of survey in July can be applied for the project.

Secondly, as we discussed project future activities, project stakeholders had common understandings on project objective and future activities.

Agenda in discussion are as follows;

  • ITSME project is for Laos. Japanese experts are technical supporters for this project. Lao people shall continue these ITSME activities even after JICA project is ended.
  • ITSME aims to produce positive change in lesson. To do so, ITSME provides model lesson plans, whose concept is understandable and enjoyable lesson for children, to enhance school-based training (SBT).
  • Model lesson plans are based on textbook. However, ITSME arranges contents depending on situation in a class in order to provide most effective teaching contents and method for children.
  • Overcoming concerns like insufficient teaching materials for lessons, model lesson plans introduce substitute materials including improvised materials and ways of teaching.
  • Model lesson plans should be used flexibly depending on each school's environment. Furthermore, sample ways for utilizing model lesson plans are introduced by ITSME trainers in the TOT.

Based on these understandings in this workshop, ITSME project implements TOT for principals and ATs from September. We expect that ITSME trainers prepare the TOT by using their experiences in ITSME's previous activities, and present how schools organize SBT to improve lessons at school.
